Practicing Math Facts

Here is a fun way to practice math facts. We did it with multiplication but you could use the same idea for addition, subtraction or division.

Math Cards Setup

I made up two sets of cards. You can make the cards by hand or print them from the computer. The first set had one equation per card. For example: 3×3, 3×5, 3×7, etc. The second set had one answer per card. For example: 9, 15, 21.

I went around in our living room and hid each card from one of the sets. I would either hide all of the answers or I would hide all of the equations. If I hid all of the equation cards then I would give my child all of the answer cards. He would choose one and search the living room for the hidden equation that matched it.

So much more fun than just doing a worksheet!

Another Practice

Here is another fun and easy way to practice math facts.

Write an equation at the top of a sheet of paper. Underneath it write four different answers in a circle, making sure that one is the right answer of courseJ Give your kids something to swat with like a fly swatter or anything else you can imagine. We used a slap hand from a board game that we own. Kids have fun slapping the right answer! If more than one is playing it is like a competition to see who can slap the right answer the quickest!
